Who's on Your List?

When I was a kid every trip in the car was a chance to bird watch. We would look out the windows and count Hawks and Kestrels, Swans and Ducks. I grew up aware of the multitude of varieties of animals and plants all around me and it seemed important to identify them. I've started to keep track of all the bird species I have attracted to my yard and those I see in my travels around town. It's pretty cool to look at it, here is the list for January (1/1- 1/10) so far, sorry it's not in alphabetical order, pictures are mine : Blue bird Cardinal Chickadee Crow Purple Finch Gold Finch Hairy Woodpecker Downey Woodpecker Red-bellied Woodpecker Junco Tufted Titmouse Carolina Wren White-breasted Nut

Did you grow these?

I was heading into the store yesterday and heard a report on NPR about growing saffron in Vermont. It made me wonder how saffron grew for my customers this fall. We brought this interesting corm into the store for Fall color plus a nice bonus of the most expensive spice around. So if you grew it this fall I would love to know how it faired. Thanks!
